Fall Trail Mix 2 Ways

Fall Trail Mix 2 Ways

I don't know about you but I loveee me some good trail mix. A good trail mix has a bit of sweet, a bit of salty and a good mix of different textures. The best part of making your own mix is getting to add more of your favorite things so don't worry about exact measurements- I just give them as a rough guide and good ratio.

Alright, now I know there is a strong love/hate relationship with candy corn. Most people either hate it or love it. So, that's why I decided to do two different fall mixes for this post. Let me know in the comments which one you would make and if you DO make them PLEASE post a picture and tag Fantasy Candies so that I can share it.

Both mixes use Chocolate Covered Cocoa Nibs. If you aren't familiar with cocoa nibs, they are crushed up pieces of cocoa beans that are bitter and chocolatey. We cover them in our 72% dark chocolate to even out the flavor and make them DELICIOUS! I use them in a ton of different ways so I'll be sharing them here on the blog.

The directions are pretty straight forward- just throw it all in a bowl and mix it up. Store it in an airtight container and you're good to go. Snacking while mixing is allowed and highly encouraged.

Mix 1:

  • 1/4 cup cocoa nibs
  • 1/3 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup pretzels
  • 1/2 cup candy corn

Mix 2:

  • 1/4 cup cocoa nibs
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/3 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup pretzels

Tips:

  • You can use any nut you want. Peanuts, pecans, cashews, walnuts...all would be great.
  • Using mini pretzels made a WORLD of a difference.
  • Dried fruit would be a great addition to mix 2, especially cranberries or blueberries.
  • You don't have to limit yourself to 4 items but make sure to taste all of your items together first to make sure they work together. The first mix is rather sweet so adding a dried fruit would probably make it way too sweet.

Thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed, and Happy Eating!
